Noteworthy events for the month ahead . . .

Kicking off the New Year, January has a few peculiar events that are worth mentioning, such as Festival of Sleep Day (January 3), Cuddle Up Day (January 6), and Bubble Bath Day (January 8).

January 7 marks the first day of the buzziest tradeshow of the year, International CES, in Las Vegas. Which consumer electronic company will dominate this year's event? Follow #CES2014 for the latest developments.

Gorkana continues to host its popular "connects" event in January with two new ones with reporters from VentureBeat (January 15) and Los Angeles Times (January 28). More information here.

And for all of the writers in us, let's not forget to celebrate Peter Roget on Thesaurus Day on January 18.

This year's Martin Luther King, Jr. Day falls on January 20, while Lunar New Year, which is celebrated by Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Mongolian, and Tibetan, falls on January 31. It is the Year of the Horse.

Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, continues to play host to the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting (January 22-25). This year's theme is "The Reshaping of the World: Consequences for Society, Politics and Business."
