Sports and Finance are more interconnected than ever before. Sports is now an investible asset class; athletes are launching financial firms; corporations are maximizing sports sponsorships; and teams and leagues are focused on using branding, marketing and communications to increase the value of their organizations.
Prosek Partners is uniquely positioned at the nexus of sports and finance. As a decades long-leader in developing strategic communications for a broad array of financial services firms including asset managers, investment banks, private equity firms, and others, Prosek has a deep understanding of the financial markets. Prosek also understands the sports landscape, having represented owners, athletes and sponsors to help them build brands that drive business impact.
In his new role, Schwartz will help owners, operators, athletes, leagues, sanctioning bodies and sponsors leverage public relations and marketing to drive business impact. Schwartz will work closely with long time Prosek executive, Aidan O’Connor, and various account teams to build on the strong work the firm has done in the sports business space.
Schwartz comes to Prosek with nearly 30 years of experience in sports, finance and the spaces where those industries intersect. He has held senior strategic communications roles with the NFL, NASCAR, the Big Ten Conference, and MasterCard and Bank of America’s sports sponsorship portfolio. Jon also teaches a variety of sports marketing and communications classes at NYU’s Preston Robert Tisch Institute for Global Sport, is on the board of advisors for the Shirley Povich Center for Sports Journalism at the University of Maryland – his alma mater – and serves as Chairman of the American Special Hockey Association.
“As investment in sports becomes more global, diverse and pervasive – with the influx of private equity, private credit, venture capital, investment banks, media holding companies and athletes in business – Sports Business Strategic Communications is becoming more important,” said Schwartz. “Prosek is distinctively positioned to drive the business narrative for sports properties, build athletes’ business brands and help sports sponsors to optimize their investments.”
“We are so thrilled to welcome Jon to our stellar team and to strengthen our Sports Business capabilities,” said Jennifer Prosek, Founder and Managing Partner. “From executive visibility and integrated marketing communications to sponsorship optimization and issues management, Jon has phenomenal leadership experience in this nuanced space, and will lead the development of new and more robust offerings for current and perspective clients in the sports universe. We look forward to what he and the team will build.”
