Q & A

What are you most proud of in your career?
Learning as much as possible about complex financial products so I could have informed conversations with journalists about them.

Name one thing most people don’t know about you.
My grandfather was a professional ice hockey goalie in the 1930s and 40s, and I have his scrapbook with all of the original newspaper articles.

How would your mother describe you?
She might say that I’m calm and rational after a pretty angsty teenage spell, and she would definitely say I should call her more often.

What are your greatest strengths as a communications practitioner?
I remain calm and collected when things around me are chaotic, I take time to step back and see all the angles and I always try and lead by example.

What is your favorite food?
All of it. All of the food (except pickles and olives).

Describe your perfect client.
One who is open-minded about new tactics and approaches, and who appreciates the science of what we do.

What three hobbies or activities do you enjoy most?
Playing street hockey, searching for AirBNB deals for impromptu getaways, playing with my dog, Dobby.

What’s your favorite part of the workday?
I like the feeling in the morning when I’m just getting started, the coffee is fresh and I can get myself organized for the coming day.

Who would play you in the movie version of your life?
Jake Johnson, because a friend said we look similar and he’s got the sort of humor and seriousness I also have been told I have. I also may be flattering myself.

What is your favorite quote?
Because of its application to so much of life, but particularly counseling a client during a crisis: “Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” – Mike Tyson
