Mark LaVoie

Mark specializes in working with some of the world’s largest financial and professional services companies, with a particular focus on international brands entering the US market. His portfolio of clients over the years have comprised global multi-market programs in North America, Europe and Asia, along with regionally focused programs in the US.

Mark joined the firm in 2015 and operates between the firm’s Boston and New York offices, helping to grow the firm’s asset management capabilities. As a Senior Vice President, Mark specializes in the creation and execution of strategic communications plans, providing client counsel and implementing impactful media relations and thought leadership programs. He has a track record of building effective programs aligned closely with internal marketing and branding initiatives and is experienced in providing careful strategy around sensitive crisis situations.

Prior to joining Prosek Partners, Mark worked at Water & Wall Group in New York as a strategic communications and branding advisor to several large alternative asset managers. Before joining Water & Wall Group, he worked at The Abernathy MacGregor Group within their asset management group, advising a number of high profile hedge funds and other asset managers.

Mark is a graduate of Trinity College in Connecticut, where he earned a B.A. in American Studies with honors and a minor in Legal Studies. He is also a former Chairman of the Hedge Funds Care/Help For Children Young Professional Committee.


Q & A

What are you most proud of in your communications career?
Recently supporting clients on taking action with their DE&I efforts, helping them truly make a difference.

Name one thing most people don’t know about you.
I am a gigantic fan of American history and spend a lot of my weekends visiting old buildings, when I’m not at home in my 1720 farmhouse.

How would your mother describe you?
The smartest one of her five children, but also the most stubborn.

What are your greatest strengths as a communications practitioner?
I tend to tell it like it is and be a straight shooter when it comes to advice. My clients and I build a tight bond as they know they’re getting my honest counsel, no matter the situation.

What is your favorite food?
Ice cream. Don’t bother asking what flavor – I’m on an endless rotation.

Describe your perfect client.
Those who use Prosek as an extension of their team are the ones that succeed the most. We work best collaboratively.

What three hobbies or activities do you enjoy most?
Gardening – I fully embrace my elderly tendencies
Meeting new people – I love to learn what gets people excited and makes people tick
Traveling – Seeing new parts of the world and experiencing cultures is incredibly fun and inspiring

What’s your favorite part of the workday?
Working with younger folks to hone their PR skills and become future leaders is incredibly rewarding.
