  • According to Trade Secretary Liam Fox, the UK will seek an exemption from President Donald Trump's tariffs on steel and aluminium imports to the US. Mr Fox says he will discuss the new duties during his visit to Washington next week. 7% of UK Steel exports go to the US, worth £360m. The European Union says it will be asking for an exemption to the tariffs, a move that includes all 28 countries, including the UK.
  • Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia collapsed on Sunday afternoon after being exposed to a nerve agent. Mr Skripal, 66, was convicted by the Russian government of passing secrets to MI6, but given refuge in the UK in 2010 as part of a "spy swap". Home Secretary Amber Rudd has described the attack as "outrageous".
  • A slowdown in the housebuilding in January contributed to the biggest monthly decline in construction output since June 2012. Construction output fell by 3.4% in January from December, the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The ONS said the fall in construction stemmed from a decline in all new work.
