  • Police responded to reports of gunfire shots this evening at Oxford Circus in central London; Those in the area were told to remain inside and the incident is still being investigated – no evidence of gunshots has been confirmed. 

  • The UK government delivered the Autumn Budget on Wednesday, which is when the Chancellor (Phillip Hammond) outlines the government’s taxation and spending plans to the MPs. Key takeaways from this year’s presentation include the abolition of stamp duty (a tax associated with the purchase of a house), increased tax on high-strength alcohol known as “white-cider”, and an increase in the National Living Wage.

  • In EU news, German Chancellor Angela Merkel finally reached a coalition agreement with the reluctant Martin Schulz, leader of the Social Democrats party (SDP), which has allowed her to avoid a government crisis or re-election and continue her leadership in Germany. Given the turmoil following the German election, recent political events have sparked skepticism among some over events taking places across Europe.
