With new Prime Minister Boris Johnson threatening to leave the EU without a deal, talks are ramping up with France’s Emmanuel Macron and Germany’s Angela Merkel, who are leaving open the possibility of creating a new deal should the UK come up with a different solution for the Irish border. Hedge funds have made a £7bn bet against the pound, in a second week of record bets against the currency. The pound had been recovering from 34-year lows of $1.2015 against the US dollar last week. Uncertainty continued, however, due to the leaking of government documents which outlined the possible impact of a no-deal.
Prince William and Kate have taken £73 flights for their family trip to Aberdeen in Scotland. Harry, who has campaigned heavily on the dangers of climate change, has previously come under fire for taking 4 private flights in 11 days whilst on holidays.
