Business Women Are Redefining Power Lunch Scene

Jennifer Prosek  Follow

For more than four years I ate breakfast at Balthazar in New York City three times a week. It was my spot to interview candidates or meet with colleagues to discuss issues before the official opening of the business day.  For the last month I've been frequenting the Crosby Street Hotel to conduct business over breakfast or lunch. And, for entertaining and convening clients to discuss issues in the industry I've generally liked the private room at MOMA’s Modern restaurant.

As an executive, the spots you choose to "power lunch" are a reflection on your brand and that of your company. I've chosen spots that  are creative, modern and visually stimulating while also having a seriousness and maturity to them.

A recent New York Times story, Ladies Who Power Lunch, illustrated the growing trend of New York’s most powerful women using the lunch table as the conference room table - picking spots that are not the obvious, old-school power lunch restaurants but rather a more stylish, down to earth, cool mix that reflects their personal brands. In an era where women's advancement is a consistent topic of conversation, it was nice to see a major story about top executive women redefining New York's power lunch scene. End of Story
