As PR professionals, it is no surprise we love to read and write. That’s why on Thursday, March 5, as part of Prosek’s Winter State of the Agency and offsite, colleagues across the firm came together for a meaningful, shared initiative: Letters for Elders. Offices across our network, including NYC, Boston, CT, LA and DC, participated by writing thoughtful, personalized letters to older adults – many of whom face ongoing loneliness and isolation. The effort turned a single day into a firm-wide moment of connection and purpose.
We began by reading short biographies about the elderly people we were writing to, learning about their hobbies, life stories and interests. From there, each letter became more than just a note. We crafted thoughtful, personal messages designed to really connect with each elder. Whether referencing a shared love of music, books or travel, we took the time to write messages that felt genuine and uplifting, and even added some creative touches with artwork to match.
What made this initiative especially impactful was its reach. While many of Prosek’s Give Back efforts are rooted in specific local markets, Letters for Elders created an opportunity for everyone, regardless of location, to contribute to a shared cause. It brought Prosekians together across offices and time zones, reinforcing our collaborative spirit while supporting a broader mission.
At its core, the initiative addressed a growing issue: the loneliness epidemic among older adults. Through small but meaningful acts of kindness, Prosek employees helped remind recipients that they are valued and remembered, with the goal of putting a smile on their faces. We hope these small and simple gestures can make a lasting impact.
