Give & Take: Join the Fun + Support Your Community This Holiday Season

With the initial rush of holiday shopping behind us, one particular “day of spending” that stuck out to me this year was Giving Tuesday, which occurred on December 3^rd. On that day, consumers, as well as various for- and not-for-profit organizations, highlighted the ways they’re working to give back to their communities; and it warmed my heart to see so many companies publicizing their ongoing dedication to supporting those who may be struggling this holiday season.

It was a great reminder of why I joined Prosek’s Give Back team, which is our firm’s internal corporate giving and volunteer program committee dedicated to helping Prosekians support our local communities and lead more socially conscious lives. I enjoy elevating my community and lending a hand to others who wish to do the same.

One of my favorite parts of being a member of Prosek’s Give Back team is getting to directly see the impact that we have in the communities in which we work and live. While Give Back is active throughout the year, there is something truly special about doing our work during this time of the year—when the spirit of giving is especially palpable.

To help keep that spirit alive and nurture it beyond the Prosek community, I wanted to share some of the ways that our teams across our various offices have been giving back this holiday season (and year-round).  My hope is that this will serve as inspiration to either support these organizations or other causes and organizations that matter most to you:

Winter Wishes (New York)

As one of our favorite firm traditions, employees from across Prosek’s offices once again participated in New York Care’s Winter Wishes Program, which provides holiday toys and gifts for children, teens and seniors across the city’s five boroughs. We were able to fulfill 80 gift requests, donating personally requested gifts to in-need individuals across the city—almost twice what we fulfilled last year!

Operation Hope (Connecticut)

Prosek’s Fairfield office worked with Operation Hope to stuff stockings for families. Operation Hope is an organization focused on eliminating hunger and homelessness in Fairfield, Connecticut. Our local office went above and beyond, so much so that the team had extra gifts to send to the families. The organization was ecstatic receiving the delivery of donations!

Capital Area Food Bank (Washington, D.C.)

The D.C. office held a canned food drive ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday to collect donations for the Capital Area Food Bank, which works to provide equitable access to food to people struggling with hunger and food insecurity across D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. The team donated over 50+ cans, boxes, and jars of food that went towards helping everyone have a full Thanksgiving table!

Pine Street Inn (Boston)

Our Boston office is full of avid volunteers and supporters of Pine Street Inn. Pine Street Inn is the largest homeless shelter in New England, and it owns or manages more than 440 permanent housing locations for close to 900 men and women in Greater Boston. In November, members of Prosek’s Boston team spent a Friday night serving dinner to 100 individuals.
