Media Navel Gaze: January 16, 2017

It’s countdown to Inauguration Day and much of Washington and the media were focused on the Cabinet Grills: Defense Chief, Secretary of State, Attorney General, the CIA and head of Homeland Security, to name a few -- and more than a few showed that they did not always see eye to eye with the PEOTUS, who continues to debate hacks and Tweet storms.  

Elsewhere:

  • Veep Biden receives the Presidential Medal of Freedom amid appropriate hoopla and inappropriate memes;
  • Trump’s son-in-law Kushner is taking on a role in the White House as senior advisor, keeping conflict lawyers, commentators busy;
  • WSJ reporter John Carney is leaving the paper to run a section of super red Breitbart News;
  • Amazon is adding 100,000 jobs over the next 18 months and old school brick and mortar;
  • The iPhone celebrates its 10th birthday amid growing pains;
  • The Dow ended down a bit to close Friday at 19,885 as the Trump rally and push to 20,000 slowed; and
  • The Greatest Show on Earth, aka Ringling and Barnum and Bailey is shutting down after more than 100 years of big tops but the circus aka beltway politics remains in full force so no worries
