To be honest, busy news week but no one big story seemed to dominate with concerns about Euro growth still keeping markets shaky and the IFM even worried now about US growth, thereby setting the stage for more uncertainty about Fed action. That's not to say there was not enough interesting "other" stories and some kinda otherworldly.


  • Big White Lies: Rachel Dolezal, an NAACP official in Spokane was outed as actually being white in a confession by her way white parents in a story that went viral way fast and where we soon coined the way crazy term, bi-Rachel;
  • Legendary Post headline writer, Vincent Musetto, who wrote the famous headline, "Headless Body Found in Topless Bar," died and received the appropriate coverage of his work with the Post's own story, "Celestial Body in Heavenly Bar";
  • Twitter boss, Dick Costolo, steps down with Jack Dorsey, co-founder, returning as interim boss;
  • Rupert Murdoch started making serious succession plans as he makes plans to step down;
  • Market share at Netflix surprised Yahoo's value, now pegged at $39 billion;
  • The Dow ended little changed, up 0.3 percent for the week, at 17,898; and
  • Revealed: Hedge-fund honcho, Steven A. Cohen, was the $141-million bidder for a Giacometti sculpture recently at Christie's.



  • Mexico held their mid-term elections this past Sunday, resulting in the election of the first-ever Independent party member to be elected as governor (Jaime "El Bronco" Rodriguez Calderón. The incumbent PRI government, however, retained a majority of the seats.


  • Latin American soccer fans were on watch this weekend as the Copa América tournament kicked off End of Story
