Path to Prosek: From PA to AAE – Ember Larregui

Ember Larregui   Follow

Next up in our Path to Prosek “PA to AAE” series, Ember Larregui, an Assistant Account Executive in our West Palm Beach office!

Please share 2-3 sentences on your general experience at Prosek so far. What’s it been like, and what have you been up to?

My experience at Prosek has been a lot of fun. I’ve been able to work out of two Prosek offices – Boston and West Palm Beach. I’ve made some really great friends, and I’ve learned so much in the worlds of hedge funds, asset management, wealth management and special situations. I’ve found that my favorite kind of work is media relations, and I’m practically an expert now at media monitoring!

What was the PA program like for you?

For me, the PA program was fast-paced and jam-packed with so many great experiences. By the end of month one, I felt like I had already been at Prosek for several months, and by the end of my PA program (four months later), it felt like I had been working in PR for a lifetime. I learned so much in such a short amount of time, that looking back on my past experiences and how much we as PAs were able to accomplish so quickly, is always a great surprise.

Why would you recommend others join/apply to the PA program?

I’d recommend the apprentice program for anyone that likes to learn by doing. The PA program is great because you get to learn through our Boot Camps and “Orange U” programs (an internal educational series here at Prosek), which are both great resources to help you understand the world of financial PR. I also recommend the program because, from day one, you’re given the opportunity to jump straight into actually doing the work. This allows you to learn through your experience of practicing media relations, creating deliverables, gaining knowledge from the teams you work with, and so much more.

What are the top 1-2 things you’ve learned at Prosek so far, and how have those lessons helped you succeed here?

The top two lessons I’ve learned so far have been to not be afraid of raising your hand, and to talk to as many people as possible.

I’ve gotten to work on several cool projects simply because I raised my hand to volunteer, even if I was nervous I might have been too junior to take part. And now, because of volunteering a few times, people know that I’m someone to go to for other similar projects as they pop up, and they come to me proactively.

Prosek has a great culture that encourages you to connect with other Prosekians no matter what level you are, so as a PA I was able to chat with Partners and Managing Directors and learn so much from them through just a simple conversation.

If you had to choose, what’s been your favorite moment at Prosek since joining?

Although there have been so many great moments to choose from, I’d have to say my favorite was just a few weeks ago when I won Halloween Jeopardy! It was so fun getting to hang out virtually with some Prosekians I don’t often interact with—and, while I was at it, crush the competition with over 2000 points!
