Path to Prosek: From PA to Account Executive - Molly Montville

By Molly Montville

For the latest edition of our Path to Prosek series, we asked Molly Montville in our New York office to share details on her journey  from Apprentice to Account Executive!

Tell us about your Prosek experience. What’s it been like, and what have you been up to?

My time at Prosek has been both challenging and deeply rewarding. Over the past 18 months, going from PA to AAE (Assistant Account Executive), to now an AE (Account Executive), I’ve had the opportunity to work on a diverse range of client projects, from supporting major acquisitions and preparing a client for an industry-wide panel discussion, to coordinating an exclusive with a top-tier reporter. Each experience has provided me with invaluable exposure to the intricacies of client work and has contributed to both my professional and personal growth.

What was the PA program like for you?

Prosek marked my first post-graduate role, and while I came from an on-campus agency in college, I quickly realized that the firm’s culture and the PA program were unlike anything I had encountered before. The entrepreneurial spirit and drive of everyone here are truly inspiring, and the PA program itself gave me exposure to a broad range of perspectives and approaches.

During my tenure as a PA, I focused on understanding the unique details of each client—from their AUM (assets under management) and investment philosophies to the nuances that set each firm apart. I also learned the importance of attention to detail, building strong relationships with internal teams, and handling complex situations with grace. I majored in Communications and minored in Economics, which made transitioning into financial services and the fast-paced environment at Prosek feel like a natural fit. And while that certainly helped, the training aspect of the PA program was integral to my first post-graduate experience and to helping me fully understand the scope and opportunities of my role at Prosek as a PR professional.

Why would you recommend others join/apply to the PA program?

For me, finding a place where I was challenged and encouraged to develop my skills was essential, and the PA program at Prosek offered exactly that. From specialized boot camps designed to help you master media relations, to having a dedicated media mentor, the program provides unparalleled learning and growth opportunities. The foundation that apprentices build throughout the program will undoubtedly serve each individual throughout their respective career, no matter where they land—just as it did for me.

On top of the professional development the PA program offered, the culture at Prosek is truly one of a kind. I’ve met some of my closest friends here, and the collaborative, inspiring environment has made my experience even more fulfilling.

What are the top 1-2 things you’ve learned at Prosek, and how have those lessons helped you succeed here?”

Trust your gut to help discover your passions and inform your journey – Prosek’s ‘custom career’ philosophy tailors opportunities to each person’s unique interests and strengths, which has been integral to my growth. During my time here, I’ve cultivated an interest for private markets, and I’m fortunate that my day-to-day work aligns with this interest. Prosek’s focus on aligning personal fulfillment with client success has not only fueled my growth but has also enhanced my ability to create value for clients.

My passion for private markets has evolved through hands-on experience—supporting extensive deal work, building executive profiles, and assisting in leveraging Prosek’s LP network for clients during fundraising. These opportunities have given me an in-depth understanding of the space, and I’ve enjoyed getting to see what factors influence investor decisions. Prosek’s ‘custom career’ approach has allowed me to lean into this passion, furthering my expertise while delivering value to clients—and propelling my own career journey forward.

Leverage your network – One of the greatest benefits of working at Prosek is the supportive culture, where everyone, regardless of seniority, is eager to help you grow. Don’t hesitate to reach out for a coffee chat or lunch to learn about a colleague’s journey at the firm and gain career insights. You never know where a single conversation might lead or what connections you might build for the future.

A third key lesson, and perhaps the most important of them all, is the importance of self-advocacy at every stage of your career. No matter your level of seniority, speaking up – especially if it’s on behalf of your client and protecting their reputation – will never reflect poorly on you. Advocating for yourself and your team, as well as your clients, is essential to driving meaningful results. While it can be daunting at times, embracing discomfort early on in your career is what enables you to step into new spaces, contribute with true confidence, and earn a seat at the table.

If you had to choose, what’s been your favorite moment at Prosek since joining?

While it’s tough to pick just one standout moment, I’d say that securing an exclusive for a client on a major deal has been my favorite so far. There’s something so rewarding about scrolling through The Wall Street Journal and realizing that your efforts directly contributed to such a significant piece.
