Path to Prosek: Turning Curiosity into a Communications Career

Born and raised in Greece, I always knew that my world would eventually stretch beyond the familiar streets and close-knit networks around me. Moving to Montreal to study at McGill University was the leap that changed everything, opening my eyes to a new world, a new lifestyle and so many intricate connections; interconnected worlds suddenly becoming familiar. I learned as much from my classes in political science and international development as I did from the people around me – friends from every corner of the world who expanded my perspective simply through conversation.

My early internships at think tanks and government offices were also important chapters. I entered them convinced that policy would be my natural next step straight out of university. However, the more time I spent in those environments, the more I realized I was paying close attention to how ideas were communicated. That realization pushed me toward communications, almost quietly at first.

My internship in communications at a global financial institution helped me better understand both my instinct for and interest in the field. Within this organisation, I could see how messaging shapes culture, alignment and trust. It was a valuable experience, one that pushed me beyond my academic comfort zone and gave me a view into how large firms operate from the inside. I learned communication isn’t just about writing well or distributing news and press releases, it’s about influencing, understanding and strategizing.

At the London School of Economics, where I completed my Masters in Global Politics, I wrote my dissertation on sportswashing and soft power. Through this exploration, it was even more evident how narratives shape not only political agendas, but every aspect of our lives and business. I knew thereafter that I wanted to work in a space where, context, strategy and storytelling intersect.

Now as an Account Executive, I am able to reflect on how discovering Prosek and the apprentice program was a pivotal moment for me – it allowed me the opportunity to steer away from the path that I thought I would take during my studies and introduce me to the world of communications, PR and financial services, in a challenging and inspiring environment. Being surrounded by people full of energy, knowledge and passion for what they do was exciting and hinted at the opportunities I would later experience at the firm. Every day I am exposed to so much more than I ever imagined – from proactive outreach delving around complex topics, to company announcements, special situations, new business and interesting conversations with people across industries.

From Apprentice to Account Executive, I’ve been able to learn new things, speak to new people, ask questions and take on projects that challenge me – these opportunities are where growth happens, and I am grateful to be in an environment where this is encouraged rather than feared.

My path to communications and Prosek wasn’t direct, but each step taught me something important. Still being early in my journey here gives me space to learn, grow and contribute however I can, surrounded by people who value ambition and collaboration as much as I do.
