It’s that time of year again. No, not earnings season…or 2026 planning season…or cuffing season (though I suppose all are true). Instead, it’s Halloween time, which means we’re back with another list of what your favorite “insert Halloween item here” says about you, in PR terms.
For the first go-around of this series, we classified your PR personality type by costume. After that, it was your preferred style of Halloween decorations, followed by your go-to spooky season candy.
This year, we’re making bold assumptions about you based on your taste in Halloween movies. So grab your popcorn (and/or candy corn), and get ready to read our takes in 3…2…1…
28 Days Later
In today’s ever-changing media landscape, you’re poised to survive even the most abrupt of changes. Whether it’s your first time navigating a zombie (sorry – “infected”) apocalypse, or your first venture into an entirely new industry for a client, you’re showing up prepared and ready to expect the unexpected. When you need to secure a slot for your client on a new show or podcast, you see it as an opportunity to flex the breadth of your PR skills—in even the most unwelcoming of environments. And once you secure that opportunity, you know exactly how to turn it into a viral hit that’ll infect a wide audience.
The Blair Witch Project
If this is your favorite Halloween movie, you’re the type of media relations professional who loves a live activation to really drum up interest in the story you want to tell. You preach authenticity and understand just how important it is to make things feel “real” when you want to sway hearts and minds…and elicit screams. Also, in true Blair Witch fashion, you recognize that sometimes what you don’t say or show can make an even bigger impression.
The Exorcist
You’re the PR pro they call when a crisis is breaking because you’re somehow able to play it cool, even in the most terrifying moments. You’re an excellent delegator, able to quickly diagnose a situation and bring in the right expert to handle it. Your efficient and effective work in managing complex situations will leave clients’ heads spinning.
Get Out
You have a knack for spotting when something’s just a little off…which is why it makes perfect sense that Get Out is your Halloween movie of choice. You can sniff out an evasive media statement from a mile away; and you’re impervious to the hypnosis of an alluring false narrative. It’s these traits that make you an asset to any research or vetting project, and it’s why every client feels lucky to have you in their court.
Halloween
While you might not personally identify as the villain, you have to admit…you and Mike Myers have some things in common. For one, you’re both persistent. Whether it’s finally getting that win against Jamie Lee Curtis or finally getting your client onto a specific broadcast program, you approach your goals with a single-minded and steadfast determination. Also, like Mike, you don’t feel the need to be flashy with your pitches or getup—a simple tool and sensible set of coveralls are all you need to get the job done.
Hocus Pocus
Teamwork makes the dream work is basically your slogan, as you thrive when working in a coven of fellow practitioners. While you prefer to do things by the spell book, you’re not afraid to punch up your witches’ brew with a few creative ingredients. Then there’s your gift of gab. Whether you’re pitching to clients or explaining your thinking to your colleagues, people find your way with words to be practically spellbinding.
I Know What You Did Last Summer
When the team needs to remember which outlet published an unflattering article about your client 10 years ago, or where that one strategy document was filed a little while back, they know you’re the person to turn to. Much like the Fisherman in I Know What You Did Last Summer, you have the memory of an elephant. Not to mention, you never let go of a grudge, which means that you have zero trouble remembering which reporters, producers, and colleagues have wronged you throughout the years. Steel trap of a memory aside, another great part of working with you is that you really understand the value of a good hook.
Midsommar
Unlike a certain unscrupulous character in this film who will brazenly steal a thesis idea, you’re someone with a strict moral compass who likes to abide by rules and best practices. You find comfort in crafting a traditional press release, briefing document, or media strategy—rituals and routine are your friends. You also find joy in unlocking ways to bring your communications community together to breathe life into your ideas.
The Ring
In today’s modern world where attention has become its own commodity, you know there’s nothing quite like a striking visual asset to transform and take your campaign to new heights. That’s exactly why The Ring is your must-watch during movie during spooky season. Another reason you love this classic horror flick? You’re a firm believer in the adage that your “network is your net worth,” and you’re not afraid to rely on the people in your circle to really get a story off the ground—and to ensure that it’s sticking within the right circles. Plus, you’re the ultimate motivator: you know how to set a strong deadline – say, seven days – and create urgency around it.
The Shining
You’re deeply committed to your craft—so much so that you can occasionally get a little prickly when your workflow gets interrupted. After all, developing compelling content and strategies that’ll resonate with key audiences and stakeholders isn’t easy—and if you could just get enough time to focus, you’d develop pitches that would have reporters bursting through the doors to learn more. Additionally, as a Shining fan, you have a deep appreciation for work life balance: you understand that all work and no play can make you a dull boy.
Sinners
You’re an event planning savant, if Sinners is your festive flick. Whenever you decide to sink your teeth into a project, you transform it. You have an innate ability to pull from all different genres and resources to craft a truly unforgettable activation, and to generate buzz from all walks of life—eternal life included. Just be careful to keep your messaging on target; you don’t want to attract the wrong kind of attention. Finally, a planner at heart, you never dive into something without a clear idea for the future; you’re someone with a real vision for what you want to achieve for your client and where the PR industry is headed.
The Thing
You’re a true PR chameleon, constantly learning from those around you and capable of transforming yourself into whatever is needed to integrate with a team. You’re also not deterred by a challenge—whether that’s toughing arctic temperatures to ensure your species’ survival or going back and forth with a reporter to ensure your client is accurately represented in a complex story. One could even say that getting the job done is part of your DNA.
You Don’t Like Watching Horror Movies
PR life has enough jump scares. We get it.
Happy Halloween!
