Maggie Blozy

Controller, VP Finance

Maggie joined Prosek in 2018 as controller. She oversees the daily accounting functions of the finance team including, but not limited to the review of financial data for accuracy and in compliance with GAAP. Maggie monitors and updates Prosek’s internal financial controls and plays a greater role in the preparation of the firm’s annual financial reports, and tax returns. Maggie is also responsible for the completeness and renewals of the firm’s business insurance policies, Women Business Enterprise Certification (WBENC), and all internal 401k audits. She was instrumental in the relocation of the Finance Department from the CT Office to New York, as well as staffing of the current finance team.

Prior to Prosek, Maggie was the Financial Controller of Brunswick group (US) performing similar functions.

Maggie, who was born, raised and educated in Ghana, emigrated to the United States in 1994. She landed her first US job within six months of emigrating, in the accounting department of Bernard Hodes Advertising.

Maggie has over 25 years of experience in the field of Accounting. She has held various accounting roles with service firm, Schematic, a WPP interactive Design Company, Fortent, an anti-money laundering tech company, Landor, a brand consulting and design company, and Geller & Company, a financial service outsourcing company. Maggie graduated from Providence Business Academy (a Business College in Ghana) with a degree in Accounting, economics and business administration.


Q & A

What are you most proud of in your career?
Getting a college degree on my own.

Coming from a third-world country and the first of 5 children, getting a higher education was impossible, yet I wanted it badly. I studied hard and worked part-time to pay for tuition though out collage. This achievement has truly made me who I am today.

Name one thing most people don’t know about you.
I am a Movement and Yoga Instructor with over 15 years of experience.

Being an accountant nurtures my need for structure and being a movement & yoga instructor nurtures my other need for freedom of expression, emotionally and organically. These two paths are my perfect harmony.

How would your mother describe you?
Nurturing, perseverant, never gives up in finding the best in people and always joyful.

What are your greatest strengths as controller?
Patience and the ability to listen deeply.

What is your favorite food?
So many favorite foods! I will say Sushi, because it combines my love of fish, rice and avocados to perfection.

Describe your perfect client.
One who is genuine, honest and can think outside the box.

What three hobbies or activities do you enjoy most?
Movement, Music and Travel.

Without music and the ability to move my body, I think my life will be incomplete. Traveling, exploring and discovering different cultures of this amazing world, gives me such joy and pleasure. Now, I get to travel the world with my husband and 2 young kids – triple pleasure!

What’s your favorite part of the workday?
When I’ve made one-on-one connection with a colleague. And most of all, when my spreadsheets tie out! I’m an accountant after all.

Who would play you in the movie version of your life?
Lupita Nyong’o, a Nigerian-Mexican Actress.

What is your favorite quote?
Being present in the moment is very important to me and this quote always does it.
